I think I just schvitzed myself...

Tomorrow (today's really 6/27 - I just post into the future) I go to see Superman Returns in 3D-IMAX.

And today the trailer for Spider-Man 3 comes out.

It's a comic book geekfest.

  1. First time I've ever seen Sandman. That still leaves one unannounced villain.

  2. It looks pretty...complete. I wonder what parts of the movie they still have to work on for almost an entire year.

  3. The Sandman looks awesome...as for the other villian, I'd heard that Topher Grace was supposed to be playing Venom...doesn't seem to match my image of Eddie Brock, but the adaptations so far have been note perfect, so I'm giving them the denefit of the doubt at this point...

the one thing that concerns me is the huge number of characters to focus on - Gwen, Sandman, Venom, Peter, JJJameson's son (can't remember his name). It's the same sort of feeling that eventually killed the Batman movie franchise...

  4. so if a comic book novice wanted to read an issue that would probably be the basis for this movie, which issue or issues would the two of you suggest?

  5. IB - don't know that I could tell you just one Sandman issue...I haven't seen a good collection with the sandman issues...

here are, however, a few we articles to give you some sandman background...

if they're using venom (the black ooze that comes onto the costume looks like it'll be venom), then you'll need some background there, too...

And if, as it appears in one flash from the trailer, there's a new Goblin in town, that could be any of a bunch of characters - most likely the Hobgoblin...

If they're going to add in all these villians and Gwen Stacy, I've just got a bad, bad feeling that it'll be overkill...

J-Ged - HD trailers are just a bigger version of the trailer, though I think if you did have your computer hooked up to an HD monitor, you'd see real HD...
