ReplyDeleteNo hot water...maybe they use certain metals which will rust only in the presence of hot water, releasing hydrogen in the process.
ReplyDeleteOn the activity series, there are always some metals listed (Mg, Al, Zn, Cr - on the linked one) that do that. I can't think of any other reason at all, no.
