That would be "The Ice Harvest" - excellent movie. Dark, but excellent.
And, didn't it have John Cusack? (but not Joan, incidentally). I believe he reads that quote on the wall of a bathroom stall.

Gamer - John but not Joan, oddly, yes. The quote comes up a few times throughout the movie almost like a weird mantra.
