Great quote..

Just heard this on a promo on the local sports talk radio station:
LeBron was supposed to be the next Jordan. Now he's just the next Pippen.
From the Stephen A Smith Show...spoken by Xzibit.

It is about as true an assessment as I've heard. Jordan was king. Came into Chicago and led their team to however many championships the Bulls were able to win...If LeBron had stayed in Cleveland and let the Cavs to the championship he could have claimed the throne.

As it is, assuming Miami wins the championship, he won't get it by being the leader, just a helper.

I'm not guaranteeing any sort of championship for Miami even over the course of LeBron's career. We've seen a lot of teams that should have won not win.

I'm looking forward to watching Dwayne Wade's Miami Heat this year.

while this may be true, you should know that sports talk radio rots your brain.

Here is a fun fact for ya. Michael Jordan played 15 seasons in the NBA. Ten of those were with Scottie Pippen alongside him. In those other five years, Michael Jordan won exactly ZERO playoff series. In fact, his won-loss record was 1-9 for his career with three first round exits and two years they didn't even make the playoffs. LeBron James never had a Pippen to go alongside him...but Jordan without Pippen had FAR less team success than what LeBron has had. MJ had Scottie, Bird had McHale, Magic had Kareem, and so on. Let's see what LeBron is capable of with another elite talent alongside before we start judging him against the other greats.

CoachSullivan - That's amazing. I remember the 1986 63-points game and how much talk there was that Jordan was just about Jordan being a heck of a scorer but not a winner. The very next year, Pippen was there and they won the first round season.

Impressive correlation.

And also interesting to think that Pippen did better in the playoffs without Jordan than Jordan without Pip.
