A little classical shopping

At Princeton's recently-performed Coffee House Theater performances, I was lucky enough to see "Philip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread", a one-act play satirizing Philip Glass's musical style.

Sadly there aren't - that I know of, anyway - any videos of the Princeton performances. There are some still photos (click forward from that one), though.

The one-act is spectacular, though, and I think you should take a few minutes to see some of the performances that were captured and posted online...

Einstein on the Beach

I'm a fan of Philip Glass.

The Girl is not. She, in fact, hates his compositions. They drive her nuts.

This means that getting her to road trip to Ann Arbor in late January to see Einstein on the Beach as hosted by the University of Michigan. They're apparently getting three preview performances before the production heads to Montpelier, France for it's new premier.

Update: The Girl agreed to go. Tickets have been purchased. A hotel room has been reserved. Holy crap, I'm gonna see Einstein on the Beach in person. How frickin' cool is that?

I can't make it, sadly

If anybody's in The City (somehow, NYC earns the capital letters) the Thursday and Friday before Valentine's Day, might I recommend checking out The Strawberry One Act Festival's Series A one-acts?

In particular I would suggest making sure to see Fan-Boys. Here's what I know about the play - in case you needed some convincing:

• It's about comic book fan-boys.
• The author interviewed me as she was writing the play. So I have the smallest bit of pride in seeing the thing finally performed.
• I taught the author everything that she knows...about chemistry.
• The author suffered the worst injury ever in any of my chemistry classes with a really nasty burn from grabbing a very hot ring stand, so she deserves your sympathy.

Sadly I will not be able to make it as I'll be in Cincy the first night and Gatlinburg the second.
