Color me tiled

I've been spending some time playing a new game recently, Color Tiles.

It's a simple enough game. Click a blank spot. If there are two tiles of the same color directly above or below, left or right, the tiles disappear. If there aren't such tiles, a buzzer sounds, and you lose a little more time off the clock. The goal is to clear as many tiles as possible in the limited time you're given.

My record so far is 192 while I just sat there for the last few seconds knowing I couldn't clear any more tiles from that bottom left cluster. Can anybody out there beat that?

Smack the pooh out of the ball

I kinda enjoyed Winnie the Pooh's Home Run Derby. I don't get why people are crabbing about the difficulty. I've successfully made it to level four...anybody wanna try to do better?

Math Run

A number of students I work with should spend some time working through this game because their math sense for simple math is lacking.

I, on the other hand, think I'm just fine.

Going back

I've been turning back to some of the old timesuck games that I posted.

This past week I played Bloons Tower Defense 4 and Toss the Turtle. I was able to get further on Bloons - to round 120, but I'm thinking that's mostly a result of my new (as of this summer) computer being a bit faster than the old one.

...and on Toss the Turtle, I got just as far as I had before, earning all the badges before getting bored with constantly nuking the bloody, little reptile. I've gotten nowhere near the 7-million foot launch I previously achieved, but I'm done.

Bringing it back

I've been re-digging Robot Unicorn Attack from Adult Swim. The repetitive music, the stupid graphics, the simple gameplay make for a great experience.

Try and match my high of 41,698 so far...

Maniacal Laugh!

Thanks to Neatorama for posting the 100 Greatest Maniacal Laughs in Film for me to identify.

My answers are after the jump...

Damn you, CoachSullivan

Thanks (I guess) to Coach Sullivan for pointing out that today's Google Doodle is a playable pop-a-shot game.

I've only played a few times, and I'm up to 39 points so far...

Suck it, Sullivan...

Done...

A few weeks back, I challenged anybody to try to beat a little online flash tennis game without losing a point and said that I hadn't been able to do that.

That's no longer the case.
And now I'm done with that game.

Frustratingly imperfect

Here's today's challenge: win the tennis tournament without losing a point.

Not a single point in the four matches.

I can consistently win the tournament with any of the players, but I can't seem to make it through all four matches cleanly. I keep trying at Graf and Navratilova - Graf because her forehand is just awesome, Navratilova because she has the wheels to get to just about anything hit her way.

My personal best is getting through the first three matches cleanly then losing two points in the final match.

There is, of course, absolutely no way to prove that you've done it, so I'll just have to take your word for it if you make it, but let's keep it above board here, folks.

Thirteen minutes of Lego

I'm a little bit bothered by the fact that they have to cheat from time to time, but it's still pretty amazing to watch this Lego contraption. Wonder how many Lego soccer and basketballs the builders have in total.

I don't understand any of this...

Figured I might as well throw this out over the weekend before throwing it out as part of the Saturday links is old news.  Thanks, TheDailyWh.at.

In other news, I'm still not on Facebook for anything other than P4P.

Lumberjack Day is coming

Be ready, folks, for this Friday is Lumberjack Day.

The official website says that September 26th is Lumberjack Day, but that's not how we time things here at good ol' PHS.

For us, Lumberjack Day is the first Friday after Winter Break.

Gives us more chance to find pre-cut trees on the curb so we have more time for celebratin' instead of choppin' wood like we do the rest of the year.

Have a few flapjacks for me, eh?

(The official website is pretty cool, by the way, and has a bunch of solid ways to celebrate.)

Final update: Toss the Turtle

And, I'm done...all medals achieved...seven million feet reached...7 172 223.8ft...turtles successfully tossed...

Update: Toss the Turtle

I know, I have to stop.  I think I will after this time...5 654 132.6ft.

Update: Toss the turtle (again)

Nevermind that 3-million stuff...4 128 540.1ft...toss the turtle, folks...

Update: Toss the turtle

I got better... 3 210 292.7ft...and had 26 nukes left before I hit a ground spike...

Toss the turtle

No, that's not a hell of a euphemism...

That's an online flash game called Toss the Turtle that combines a number of my favorite aspects to these types of games...
  • ...violence.  You're firing a turtle out of a cannon and trying to hit bombs, chainsaw-wielding maniacs, fireballs, spikes, and much more.
  • ...upgrades.  I particularly recommend upgrading to a more powerful cannon as soon as you can.
  • ...medals.  I've won most of the medals by playing for a couple of hours.  The rest of the medals are endurance-type ones that I may or may not win.
So, see if you can beat my biggest launch to date...1 478 813.9 ft...

...or win as many medals as I have...

And just to make things a little more reasonable, here's a screencap of my first biggest launch that I was going to post.  Try aiming for this at the start.

Get some balance in your life

Take some time to enjoy whatever break you're getting this holiday season with Levers in which you try to keep all your mobile out of the water.

I'm currently stumped on the creation you see above.  It's the stupid birds that keep throwing my balance off.  And I can't quite figure out what the hot rock is doing.

If this game drops under 55 mph, we all die!

I loved the card game speed as a high schooler.

I still love it now.

Update: Defending Your Tower...Again

And I'm done...made it through level 100 on easy...that challenge is met.  At least the browser waited to crash until level 102 this time.

At some future point, I may turn to the more challenging paths, but not right now.  Now is the time to grade lab reports.
