Sometimes excess just isn't enough...

Seriously, this house felt they needed to do this for Christmas?

'Cause I'm thinking there aren't a lot of good reasons.

How the hell can anyone afford the electric bill for all that?!

I'm pretty sure Jesus loves them more than us now

There's a house in Deer Park that is similarly decorated, but instead of of the light up statues, it's handmade wooden cartoon and movie characters.

When I was little, there were probably a hundred of them lit up on their lawn, but they've downscaled in recent years. If you're ever in the area at that time of year, just look for the house that says "Merry Christmas from the Roos" in a huge sign on the roof.

Crimson - I have no idea. Over Winter Break, I was at my parents' watching cable (because that's what I do whenever I visit people with cable - watch TV) and saw a show on the most extreme Christmas decorations in the country. The people had installed separate breaker boxes, outdoor outlets, and higher current lines from their house for their lights. They were talking about spending an extra $800-$1000 in electricity each year alone.

The house I've pictured isn't quite to that extreme, but I'm guessing it's at least $200 for electricity alone.

Calen - Clearly more than Jesus loves me.

Katydid - I think I would prefer the handmade decorations to these injection molded plastic monstrosities. I don't particularly find myself appreciating people who just go out and buy a bunch of pre-made inflatables or plastic Christmas decorations very much.
